The Missing are overdue, lost, injured, stranded, or victims of natural or man-made disasters. They are children, youth, seniors, despondent, or otherwise at-risk. They are outdoor adventurers, or hunters who may have lost their way. Regardless of the cause of their situation, the Missing are vulnerable.
@saskpower employee Andy Crooks volunteered over 50 hours for Search and Rescue Regina Inc. and received $500.00 from SaskPower to present to this organization. SaskPower's Employee Volunteer Program rewards employees volunteering in their communities by providing funds to the non-profit organizations they serve.

Search And Rescue Regina professional volunteers received incredible near-water training this past weekend. We gained the knowledge and practical hands-on experience to keep ourselves and others safe when encountering a water incident, including moving water.
Thank you @saskenergy for sponsoring our education program!
Thank you to Lavan, Kyle and Elwood for being incredible course creators and instructors.

On missing person activations, items left behind in the environment by people are considered to be clues. These items help ground searchers narrow down possible locations and travel directions of missing persons. Every clue is noticed, and radioed into the command centre, and some clues are handled and collected as evidence.
Prior to our Annual General Meeting, our membership did a mock clue search in the Ross Industrial area, which resulted in a large collection of litter, which was collected and disposed of.
Our meetings always also include training, and in this instance we reviewed using compact hypothermia kits.
Congratulations to our incoming 2024-25 Board of Directors.

Louise Yates, Secretary
Marius Burger, Director (Equipment)

April 30th, Search and Rescue Regina members participated in the 2024 Awakening Ceremony of the Place of Reflection located on Treaty 4 Territory at the RCMP Depot grounds. This sacred space is a place of hope.
When someone dies, there is often a grave site, a place to gather and remember; when someone vanishes, there is a void.”
-- Lori Whiteman
The reawakening of the stones and raising of the tipi are important events that occur each year as part of the annual cycle of the Place of Reflection.

May 5 is Red Dress Day, a day to remember and honour missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ peoples (MMIWG2S+).
Indigenous Women are 13 times more likely to be murdered or go missing than other women in Canada, and 16 times more likely to be killed or disappear than white women. (Source: globe and Mail story referring to the public inquiry).
Beaded earring by Nikki, an Inuit and Cree artist.

Saskatchewan Missing Persons week is April 28th to May 4th.
More than 140 Saskatchewan residents have been missing for a very long time - years, decades. Their grandmothers, grandfathers, mothers, fathers, aunties, uncles and children never forgot them. And community helpers never stop trying to find them, never stop trying to bring them home.
On April 30th Search and Rescue Regina members joined other Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers chapter members to attended the Sask Missing Persons Partnership annual Walk to Honour the Missing from the Conexus ArtsCentre to the Missing Persons Tree and Bench in the Arboretum Park area of Wascana Park.
Please keep the missing in your prayers.
